Total Energy Independence for the United States: A Twelve-Year Plan ReviewI liked the book, it presents the issue with nuclear energy (and their solutions by advanced inherently safe fast reactors, IFR and PRISM, and closed fuel cycles with virtually no long term radioactive waste) in a brief form, understandable to non-experts, along with quantitative estimates of future needs in power and hydrogen infrastructure to displace fossil fuels. It also discusses other factors necessary for hydrogen infrastructure, price estimates of all the parts of the plan, some ideas in implementation, and provides verifiable references to respective sources.
I miss a discussion about synthetic fuels besides hydrogen, namely methanol or dimethyl ester synfuels, which can replace gasoline and diesel fuels respectively, without any major modifications in contemporary engines, and which can be fabricated from onside hydrogen production, from CO2 in air and H, see http://www.lanl.gov/news/index.php/fuseaction/home.story/story_id/12554Total Energy Independence for the United States: A Twelve-Year Plan Overview
