Asian economies are so different (e.g., Japan's per capita GDP is about 50 times that of Vietnam's) that a one-size-fits-all approach will not work. So you need to tailor things, and to do that, you need to know what is going on in the different economies. That is where this book comes in very handy as a primer: the introductory chapters spell out regional trends, and the chapters on the individual countries in the region, each 10-20 pages in length, that give you the essentials quickly.
